We write about temples as architecture, history, and living places. Each essay looks closely at the building, the record behind it, and the community that still gathers there, with respect for worship and the people who keep these traditions alive.
Field method
How our research is built
Each article starts with on-site field visits, where we photograph exteriors, courtyards, and carved details in available daylight and note the surrounding streets and landscape.
Architectural observations are checked against published surveys, while historical claims are traced to archaeological reports and epigraphical records before they reach print.
Our commitments
Principles for every essay
Accuracy first
Historical dates and attributions are sourced and flagged when scholarship remains uncertain.
Architectural terms
We use standard nomenclature for shikhara, mandapa, gopuram, and other features, and explain each term on first use.
Respectful representation
We photograph active worship spaces only from appropriate distances and never stage rituals or invent sacred details.
